The air filter, special version for the FHC, was available in the pile of parts belonging to the car. The brackets needed to mount it to the water outlet and to the air inlet where not available and made by myself. I also reshaped the right part of the air filter by removing the lid because it was badly damaged in the past. By removing the lid it could be straighten from the inside which was much easier.

The air filter will be protected from water and dirt by splash screen.
This splash screen consist of two parts :
– one before the front wheel (protecting the ignition)
– one after the front wheel (protecting the air filter)

  1. Hi, I am restoring a 1959 XK150 FHC (LHD) with the same air filter canister. Do you have any images that show the removal and re-fixing of the lid to allow repairs. Also have you used a paper air filter internally or stuck with the oiled screen? Many thanks, John

  2. Hi, Because someone dropped it in the past the filter side of the canister was warped. I removed the filter end by bending the enge very carefully so I was able to remove it. Washed out the filter material with the idea to oil it again. Because the end of the filter was opened now I was able to remove all the dents and straighten the bended bars. Sorry enough I don’t have any pictures from it.
